The mulch layer applies rolls of plastic mulch or other mulch material on flat land or pre-formed raised beds.
All mulch layers models are fully adjustable for a variety of application practices and proper placement of material edges, with or without raised beds.
Mulch layers can also adjust for up to 8” bed height, in general. High-clearance mulch layers have features to lay plastic mulch over beds up to 12” high.
Use a bedder-Layer combo to form raised beds and apply mulch in one pass. Separate passes for bed shapers and mulch layers add more versatility and allow the use of smaller tractors.
In conclusion, configure the mulch layer to suit your needs. All Mulch Layers are manufactured by Buckeye Tractor co.

Features for the Mulch Layer
Superior floatation & depth control: Gauge wheels carry frame weight of the mulch layer and provide depth control for opening disks. Spring-loaded tuck wheels float to keep wheels on mulch material. Covering disks and covering boards are simple and easy to adjust with depth control.
Maximize mulch coverage for weed control: Mulch row spacing can be as close as the mulch width plus 6 inches. For example, 60” mulch can be applied on 66” row center-to-center to maximize coverage for weed control. For smaller tractors, 48” mulch can be done on 54” row center-to-center.
Covering disks work best with raised beds and fit in narrow furrows (shown above). Use disks also for flat land application and better handles some residue. They also have lateral adjustment and positive depth control – no floating disks or tricky disk angles. Mulch coverage is most consistent.
Covering boards. Leave a smoother finish on flat land applications and wider furrows or paths.
Load and go: Step up to the open rear frame to load mulch rolls, which simply sit and turn on the top two carriage rollers. Feed material under spring-loaded ground roller.
Low-profile roll carriage Set the roll low to the ground to minimize effects in windy weather. Easily adjust the roll brake.
Easy-start mulch rows Lift spring-loaded tuck wheels by hand to quickly start mulch rows.
Up to three drip tape applicators can be added to the machine (we usually recommend two of them). We offer as a standard shoes that can bury drip tape from 0″ to 5″ depth. Surface or deeper applicators are also available.
Mulch Layers simply roll on loose seedbed soil, which requires little pulling power.
For ease of use add a quick hitch A-frame.
