The hands-free washing kit with recirculation allows continuous reuse of the basin water without holding the washing jet by hand. It is particularly useful for quickly washing bunched root vegetables, often produced in large quantities on diversified vegetable farms. This station significantly reduces handling compared to washing on a mesh table because vegetables don’t need to be placed on the mesh, turned, and then removed. Additionally, hands are free from holding the water jet.
A well-set operator, with assistance in supplying and evacuating clean vegetable containers, can wash from 500 to 1500 bunches/hour, depending on the level of embedded dirt.
Ideal for washing bunches of carrots, beets, green onions, turnips, radishes, bunched onions, leeks, fresh garlic.
Excellent for washing root vegetables where the units are large enough to justify individual handling: celeriac, rutabagas.
At low pressure, it washes the base of lettuces and bok choys placed upside down in a ventilated container without needing to remove them individually. The container is then dipped in the basin to rinse the vegetables inside.
Perfect for washing dirty empty containers, directing the jet into the container towards the splash guard panel: the pressure and flow offer quick washing. Projecting water forward provides an ergonomic work environment and instant water drainage out of non-ventilated bins.
The hands-free washing kit procedure generally goes as follows:
- A clean empty container is placed on the other side of the basin, ideally on another roller conveyor, ready to receive washed bunches (usually the previous dirty container, rinsed under the jet).
- A bunch of bunched vegetables is placed on one side of the basin, ready to be washed (ideally on a slightly angled roller conveyor towards the operator, allowing continuous supply).
- The operator takes a bunch in each hand and washes them simultaneously under the jet at the desired power, exposing the roots. The splashed water rinses the foliage.
- Clean bunches are placed in the clean container, without having to count if the contents of the containers to be washed were already counted, which is usually the case when vegetables come from the field.
- The soiled empty container is washed to become the next container to fill.
Features of the hands-free washing kit:
- Powerful suspended cone-shaped adjustable jet (maximum 80 psi).
- Adjustable suspended jet height.
- High flow for quick dirt evacuation.
- Submersible pump for silent motor operation.
- Provided with an additional gun and hose for container washing or simultaneous washing outside the station.
Essential for work ergonomics, aluminum roller conveyors feed the station with vegetables or containers to wash and efficiently move them towards stacking on carts or pallets. The upstream conveyor can be slightly inclined towards the station so that the containers roll towards the operator.
